One American's Love of Movies...

Currently on Facebook I am doing "The 30 Day Movie Challenge". Today, on day 10, I had to post my favorite movie quote. I commented that it was hard because I have so many!! But then I started to think, how can you even compare quotes, does a laugh-out-loud-every-time-you-hear-it quote beat out a quote that makes you consider your life or all that you have? Does a quote that moves you to the point of tears really compare to a quote that motivates you to be better?
Movies are a major part of our culture and quite frankly, I love them. There is a movie for every mood, every sport, every occasion, and every life milestone. There are movies to inspire, movies to bring awareness to a cause or a life well lived, movies to make you feel good and laugh, movies to make you cry, movies that you can relate to, even movies with seemingly have no point whatsoever. (Uh...Napoleon Dynamite anyone?)
What about those great moments in not-so-great movies? What about those amazing movies that make you feel like you have to run out and buy it that instant? The movies that you think you can watch every day until you die, at least until about the tenth time you've seen it? What about when you're watching a movie, thinking how terrible it is, and right when you're about to turn it off one scene comes along and glues you to your seat?
From "Father of the Bride" that makes you want to plan a wedding and wonder what your own Dad would be thinking, to "Mission Impossible" that makes you wish you were a secret agent with an unlimited supply of super spy gadgets, to "Elf" which makes you almost believe in Santa, to "White Christmas" that makes makes you want to curl up with a cup of hot chocolate and actually ENJOY the snow, to "Ocean's Eleven" that makes you want to be a part of a family-like, jokester-full Vegas crime ring, to "A League of Their Own" that teaches you how baseball almost died and how it was women who saved the game, "The Greatest Game Ever Played" that teaches you how one young man changed the game of Golf forever, to "Kicking and Screaming" which makes you laugh through the whole thing at fun absurdities while at the same time making you relate to a grown man trying to beat his Dad at just ONE thing for once in his life, to "The Sandlot", "Peter Pan", "Big", "Little Giants", and "Angels in the Outfield" that remind of you being a kid to "Annie", "Music Man", and "The Sound of Music" that make you fall in love with music! "Ice Castles" and "Dawn Anna" that makes you realize that in an instant your whole world can change and it's all about how we move past it. "When A Stranger Calls" and "Disturbia" that make you never want to answer the phone or talk to your neighbors again. Classics and feel good movies like, "Little Women", "Gone with the Wind", "Steel Magnolias", "Facing the Giants", "Fox and the Hound", "Ever After", "Love me Tender", "Top Gun", "Miracle", "The Godfather", and "Jane Eyre" . From every Doris Day movie that makes you wish you lived during that time to westerns with the Lone Ranger and John Wayne! Movies that put you in a time and place you'll never forget like "World Trade Center", "Remember Me", and "Pearl Harbor". Movies that give you a glimpse of what its like to be in battle like, "Behind Enemy Lines" and "The Patriot". Movies that take you into the realm of "What-Ifs" like, "The Transformers", "The Day After Tomorrow", "The Village", and "Premonition". Movies that make you fall in love: "The Wedding Planner", "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days", "The Notebook", "The Lakehouse", "Pretty Woman", "Just Like Heaven", "Runaway Bride", "Pride and Prejudice" and "You've Got Mail".
STILL, I can think of MANY more!!!!

OK, I'll stop! haha I realize that not everyone is as big of a movie lover as I am but truly, there are few things better than a rainy afternoon with a good cup of coffee or some popcorn and a great movie!
The quote I chose for my "movie challenge" answer was,
"There's a very good chance I may never come here again!!!"
"That's a chance we'll have to take."
Of course, this is from "Kicking and Screaming" and it comes from the most hysterical scene in the entire movie. If you've seen it, you will agree! (at least, you should) haha
I think as far as all time favorite quotes go though...substantial, emotional, make you smile, make you remember, make you want to watch it today... it would have to be this one:

"I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. I say ALL of this to say - this is the first chilly, potentially gloomy fall weekend of 2011 - it's a perfect time to spend an evening watching a movie you love! Or even to see one you never have. Happy Movie watching people!
